Mom Newborn Died In SC Prison Toilets Awarded $1.15 Million Settlement. Sinetra Johnson was pregnant with twins at Camille Griffin Graham Prison when she went into labor with the twins 10/11/2012.
She was 26 gestation on this day when she went into early labor. Sinetra reported to staff she was in pain. The medical staff brushed it off as stretching ligaments. They ignored her cry because it was just too early for the babies to born per court filings.
In addition she was forced to report to work at her prison job that day when she delivered the twins. Johnson delivered her first baby in the toilet. Concerned inmates saw her bleeding grad a wheel chair and rushed he to the infirmary. There she delivered a healthy baby boy.
The baby died of asphyxiation
The prison staff waited for EMS before checking on the baby, removing the first baby from the toilet. Then they placed the baby in biohazard bag per state filings. The baby died of asphyxiation.
